LG Secures First European Heat Pump And Buffer Tank Project

Netherlands: LG Electronics has secured its first European order for a combined system of THERMA V air-to-water heat pumps and stainless steel buffer tanks supplied by OSO, for a 102-unit social housing redevelopment project in Ridderkerk, the Netherlands. The project involves reconstruction of an existing site, with retained structural elements and the use of timber in the new build. Installation of the heat pump systems is being carried out in phases in line with the construction schedule.

The integrated system provides heating, cooling and domestic hot water by transferring heat from outdoor air, without direct fossil fuel combustion. The heat pumps can deliver four to five units of heat per unit of electricity consumed, while the buffer tanks support temperature stability and heat distribution within the system. The project represents the first deployment in Europe of a combined solution following LG’s acquisition of OSO, with the system designed as a single package to support installation and operational processes.
