LG Electronics

South Korea: LG Electronics is establishing a next-generation HVAC research and development center in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province of South Korea, through a partnership with Changwon National University. The 13,223 sq.m. facility, with a budget of approximately 50 billion won (US$ 35 million), is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2027. The center will support research into future HVAC technologies, including air conditioners, heat pumps, chillers, and data-center cooling systems, and will include facilities capable of conducting simultaneous extreme high- and low-temperature testing, marking a first in Korean HVAC R&D.

The new HVAC Academy at Changwon Smart Park will be expanded and relocated to this facility to train domestic and international engineers. LG will focus on advancing core HVAC product technologies such as compressors, motors, pumps, heat exchangers, and inverters, aligning with evolving environmental regulations in major markets.
