Samsung Expands HVAC Production Hub In South Korea

South Korea: Samsung Electronics has announced an investment of KRW 240 billion (USD 180.0 million/EUR 165.0 million) to establish a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) production hub at its Gwangju Integrated Special City facility in South Jeolla Province. The project includes the construction of a new production line with a total floor area of 21,800 square metres at the Gwangju Campus No. 3, with operations scheduled to begin in early 2028. The development follows a groundbreaking ceremony attended by company officials, representatives from FläktGroup and local government authorities.
The facility will manufacture cooling and central air conditioning equipment, including coolant distribution units, fan wall units, computer room air handlers and air handling units, primarily for data centres and industrial applications. The investment aligns with rising demand for HVAC systems driven by expansion in AI data centres, semiconductor manufacturing and battery production. Samsung Electronics plans to use the Gwangju facility to support its HVAC business across data centres, industrial facilities and commercial buildings.
