Green Buildings Gain Traction in Vietnam, Could Become Compulsory by 2025
Vietnam

Vietnam: Green construction is gaining momentum and may soon become a compulsory standard in Vietnam. The focus on using eco-friendly materials for high-rises, apartment blocks, and industrial parks is aimed at reducing carbon emissions. Companies like Fico Tay Ninh Cement JSC have introduced green-labeled cement, which cuts carbon dioxide emissions by up to 70%. SCG Concrete Roof Company has also launched a green cement that reduces emissions by 20% and earned Singapore's green certification.

Foreign investors are increasingly interested in green industrial zones, with 55% of Vietnam’s green-certified projects coming from the industrial sector. Despite the higher upfront costs, Dong Mai Lam, general director of Schneider Electric Vietnam, stated that green buildings bring long-term benefits such as lower operating costs, better energy efficiency, and increased competitiveness.
