Danfoss is expanding industrial heat pump capabilities to support high temperature

Denmark: Danfoss is progressing the development of industrial heat pump systems capable of delivering supply temperatures of up to 120°C, with plans to extend this range to 150°C. These advancements aim to support the electrification of high-temperature processes across sectors such as food and beverage, pulp and paper, chemicals, and textiles, where operations depend on hot water or steam for functions such as drying, sterilisation, and boiling. The technology also holds relevance for district heating systems, particularly in colder regions, where elevated supply temperatures are needed for reliable and efficient heat delivery.

Traditional commercial heat pump systems have generally been limited to output temperatures of around 90–100°C, making them unsuitable for many industrial applications. Danfoss is addressing these constraints through system designs that integrate optimised compressors, refrigerants, and control mechanisms. Operating at higher temperatures increases demands on system components including heat exchangers, valves, and lubricants, requiring careful selection and coordination to maintain long-term efficiency and reliability.
