US: Carrier’s Americas residential HVAC division, which accounts for roughly half of its revenue, reported third-quarter sales about 30% below analyst expectations. The company cited weaker consumer demand and dealers reducing existing inventory instead of placing new orders, a trend expected to cut revenue by US$75 million to US$100 million and earnings per share by about 5 cents.
Additional pressures are coming from softer performance in the Viessmann unit and productivity challenges, which analysts estimate could further reduce earnings by 5 to 10 cents. While businesses tied to Asia and transportation remain stable, demand in China continues to lag. In response, Carrier has initiated US$100 million in cost reductions, mainly targeting Europe and corporate operations, with most savings expected in 2025.
