Germany: Viessmann will supply 19 heat pumps to Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena as part of a project aimed at reducing the stadium’s carbon dioxide heating emissions by up to 40%. The initiative involves the gradual modernisation of the 75,000-capacity stadium with renewable climate technologies from Viessmann Climate Solutions and Carrier Global. Viessmann, a German manufacturer and climate partner of Bayern Munich since 2021, became part of Carrier Global Corporation in 2024.
The project builds on earlier installations, including three large Carrier heat pumps added in 2022 to operate the stadium’s undersoil heating system. In 2025, 19 Viessmann Vitocal 350 HT-PRO heat pumps will be installed to provide decentralised heat supply across the venue, including areas such as the bistro, fan store, and museum. Additionally, around 1,050 photovoltaic modules will be placed on the roofs of spectator control areas to support on-site energy generation and enhance overall energy efficiency.
