UK Boiler Upgrade Scheme Hits Record Heat Pump Uptake in 2025

UNITED KINGDOM: The UK government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme delivered a record year in 2025, with 110,758 voucher applications submitted, 98% for air source heat pumps. Despite a seasonal slowdown in December, the scheme issued 95,639 vouchers during the year and paid 72,982 redemptions, with December ranking among the strongest months on record for completed installations.
Regionally, the South East and South West led uptake. Median air source heat pump costs in Q4 2025 stood at about USD17,000 (£13,431), representing a 6% real-term decline compared with the scheme’s first year, reinforcing affordability gains under continued government support.
