Singapore is Implementing Tighter Energy Standards for Water Heaters and Refrigerators in 2025
The National Environment Agency (NEA) and Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) will extend the Mandatory Energy Labelling Scheme and Minimum Energy Performance Standard to household water heaters and commercial storage refrigerators starting 1 April 2025. This will help both businesses and homeowners choose appliances that save money on electricity bills. Water heaters, a major energy consumer in homes, will now have a 5-star rating system. Low-efficiency models will be phased out, encouraging a switch to more sustainable options. This move supports Singapore's goal of reducing carbon emissions.
