Carrier and Google Cloud Partner to Enhance AI-Powered Energy Management

USA: Carrier Global Corporation has partnered with Google Cloud to develop AI-driven energy solutions aimed at improving grid flexibility and optimising residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This collaboration, led by Carrier Energy, integrates Carrier’s battery-enabled Home Energy Management System (HEMS) with Google Cloud’s AI-powered analytics and WeatherNext forecasting models. The initiative is designed to help homeowners store and use energy more efficiently, particularly during peak demand periods, while supporting utilities in balancing supply and demand. By leveraging AI and real-time data, the partnership aims to enhance energy efficiency, reduce costs, and promote sustainable energy use.

The project aligns with Google’s goal of creating carbon-free energy solutions and Carrier’s target of helping customers avoid over one gigaton of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Carrier’s next-generation heat pump, announced at Climate Week NYC, will feature grid-interactive capabilities and intelligent energy forecasting. Through integration with Google Cloud’s AI tools, the system will manage energy flows in real-time, adjusting based on grid conditions, energy demand, and weather forecasts. The rollout will continue through 2027, with plans for nationwide adoption. This initiative highlights the increasing role of AI in energy management, aiming to create a more resilient and efficient energy ecosystem for homeowners and businesses.
