Sharp Decline in Heat Pump Installations is Expected in 2024
Germany: The Central Association for Healthcare, German Heating and Air Conditioning predicts a significant decrease in heat pump installations in Germany by 2024. According to the newspaper "Sueddeutsche Zeitung," the primary cause is "customers' uncertainty about the future of energy supply." Michael Hilpert, president of Zvshk, stated that "between 180 and 200 thousand" heat pumps will be installed in Germany this year "if we are lucky". According to Hilpert, the 500 thousand gadgets predicted by the federal government in 2024 are "illusory, even for next year."
According to the Zvshk, the number of heat pumps installed in Germany will reach a record 300,000 in 2023. These technologies, "preferably powered by green electricity," are projected to play a significant role in meeting climate targets in the construction industry. However, according to the Zvshk, consumers are hesitant and are holding back on investing in heat pumps.
