Philippines Allocates Public Funds for Housing and Resettlement Projects

Philippines: The Philippines’ Department of Public Works and Highways has directed its regional offices to work with the National Housing Authority to implement housing and resettlement projects for informal settlers with a total allocation of PHP 1,800 million (USD 32 million/EUR 29 million). Funded under the 2025 General Appropriations Act, the programme targets resettlement needs in Metro Manila, Calabarzon and Central Luzon, with regional DPWH offices assigned responsibility for construction under the National Housing Authority’s Comprehensive and Integrated Housing Programme.
In Metro Manila, projects amounting to PHP 700 million (USD 12.5 million/EUR 11.5 million) include housing developments in San Juan valued at PHP 300 million (USD 5.4 million/EUR 5.0 million) and projects in Manila and Navotas at PHP 200 million each (USD 3.6 million/EUR 3.3 million each). In Calabarzon, construction worth PHP 800 million (USD 14.3 million/EUR 13.1 million) covers a multi-purpose housing facility in Rosario, Batangas, and resettlement buildings in Naic, Cavite, and Bacoor City. Central Luzon will see a PHP 300 million (USD 5.4 million/EUR 5.0 million) multi-purpose resettlement building in San Ildefonso, Bulacan. The DPWH stated that coordination with housing authorities and related agencies is required to ensure delivery of the projects.
