Panasonic Targets Two Million AC Units in India by FY28 After 50% Sales Growth

India: Panasonic Life Solutions India reported a 50% year-on-year increase in residential air conditioner sales during summer 2026 and aims to expand manufacturing capacity to two million units by FY28. According to Yoshiyuki Kato, Managing Director and CEO, growth was supported by rising temperatures, increasing adoption of inverter technology and demand from tier II and tier III cities. The company expects long-term opportunities from low air-conditioning penetration, urbanisation and growing demand for energy-efficient products.
Beyond air conditioning, Panasonic is expanding its focus on wiring devices, switchgear, lighting, smart homes and building solutions. It is also exploring opportunities in Uttar Pradesh, driven by housing, infrastructure and industrial development. The company plans to combine local manufacturing, distribution and product innovation to support expansion while maintaining profitability in a competitive market. Its broader strategy focuses on integrated solutions for energy efficiency, automation, safety and sustainable buildings in India.
