NIBE Expands UK Offering with Heat Network Solutions

UK: NIBE Energy Systems has expanded its HVAC portfolio in the United Kingdom with the integration of Cetetherm’s Pioneer Heat Interface Unit (HIU) and substation products. The move introduces district heating and cooling expertise from Sweden into NIBE’s offering, enabling the company to support both individual heat pump-led systems and larger heat network projects. A dedicated heat networks team has been formed, led by Alan Unwin, who brings over a decade of experience with Cetetherm, alongside NIBE’s Heat Network Specialist, Gulam Seedat.

Heat networks distribute hot water from centralised sources such as heat pumps, biomass or combined heat and power plants to multiple dwellings through insulated pipes. HIUs, such as the Cetetherm Pioneer, connect these networks to individual properties, providing space heating and hot water on demand while allowing energy metering and remote monitoring. The Pioneer HIU, a fourth-generation model, offers low return temperatures, smart control features, and compact pre-assembled design. By adding this technology, NIBE is positioning itself to meet demand from housing developments and retrofits where centralised systems are preferred over individual heat pumps, while supporting the UK’s broader transition to low-carbon heating solutions.
