Mitsubishi Electric Inaugurates a Heat Pump Training Facility in Livingston

UK: Mitsubishi Electric has inaugurated a state-of-the-art training facility at its factory complex in Livingston, Scotland, in response to the increasing demand for heat pumps in the UK.

The centre was officially opened on the May 15th, with notable government and industry figures in attendance. Among them were Graeme Day MSP, Minister for Higher and Further Education, and Tadashi Fujiwara, the Consul General of Japan in Edinburgh.

With the UK government setting a target of 600,000 residential heat pump installations per year by 2028, there is a growing need for skilled and accredited heat pump installers. Legislative support, including funding from the Scottish Government, combined with the rising demand from homeowners and businesses to transition from fossil fuel boilers to more sustainable heating options like heat pumps, is driving the demand for more trained installers.

The new Livingston Training Centre has the capacity to train over 1,000 individuals annually as accredited heat pump installers. In addition to hands-on training, Mitsubishi Electric has introduced Virtual Reality (VR) training opportunities, providing installers with a novel and innovative way to learn and comprehend the intricacies of heat pump systems.
