LG AC Sales Cross 1 Million in 100 days, to Cross 2 Million Mark in CY24
INDIA: In anticipation of the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) forecast of extreme heat in the coming days, air conditioner (AC) sales have increased substantially throughout the nation. In the first one hundred days of 2024, the South Korean technology behemoth LG Electronics has already sold one million air conditioning units (contract-based to its retail partners) and anticipates selling more than two million units by the end of the year. “We can meet the scaling demand easily. If we run our factories on multiple shifts, we can produce even more. Usually, we run one shift only but looking at the demand we are already running two shirts at the factories,” adds Chitkara. Two locations in India—Greater Noida and Pune—are utilized by the company to produce air conditioners; each has the capacity to produce 2.5 million units annually. However, considering the level of demand, it is possible to expand the operation.
