Kathy Hochul Announces $150 Million Funding for Energy-Efficient Heat Pump Systems in New York

U.S.: Governor Kathy Hochul announced up to USD150 million in supplemental funding under the Green Small Buildings Program, administered by New York State Homes and Community Renewal, to support installation of energy-efficient heat pump systems in small residential buildings across New York. Part of the State’s USD 1 billion Sustainable Green Futures program, the initiative aims to expand clean heating and cooling access, reduce emissions, and improve affordability, particularly for low- and moderate-income households. The funding will be integrated with existing HCR grants, loans, and State of New York Mortgage Agency programs to enable faster implementation statewide. Projects must meet standards set in coordination with New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to ensure high-quality installation, performance, and long-term energy savings.
