Denmark: Johnson Controls has officially breaks ground on the expansion of its Holme heat pump and chiller facility in Aarhus, Denmark. The facility manufactures large, high-capacity commercial and industrial heat pumps, including customised Sabroe-branded solutions, and supports customers across sectors like district heating and cooling, data centres, food and beverage, and life sciences. The expansion will add 2,300 square meters of production space and an 1,800-square-meter customer and test centre, fully compliant with the new European Heat Pump Association testing regulation (EN 14511). It is scheduled for completion by early 2026 and is expected to create over 100 new jobs. The Holme site is powered by 100% green energy and produces equipment using natural refrigerants like ammonia, CO₂, and propane, meeting upcoming EU regulations taking effect in 2027 and 2030.

This investment aims to help customers lower heating costs and emissions while ensuring performance and reliability. Johnson Controls heat pumps helped global customers reduce annual heating costs by 53% and cut emissions by 60% in 2024. In 2026, four large-scale heat pumps in Hamburg will use treated wastewater to provide district heating for 39,000 homes. The expansion also includes modernisation of existing buildings, continuing the legacy of innovation at the Holme facility, established in 1897.
