ITOCHU and Daikin Form Alliance to Advance Commercial Air Conditioner Recycling in Japan
Japan: ITOCHU Corp. and Daikin Industries have signed a comprehensive business alliance agreement under Japan’s Act Concerning Sophistication of Recycling Business, etc. to Promote Resource Circulation (Type 1) to advance resource recycling for commercial air conditioners and expand the use of recycled materials. The partnership will integrate the entire recycling process—from collection and dismantling to material sorting, refrigerant recovery, quality evaluation, material recycling, and product commercialization—while ensuring traceability, quality assurance and regulatory compliance. The companies plan to gradually expand the range of recycled materials, including iron, copper, aluminum, rare earth metals, plastics, electronic components and fluorocarbons, beginning with the domestic market before expanding the initiative nationwide through phased implementation.
