Indian Appliance Prices Rise Ahead of Festive Season

India: Prices of air conditioners and other consumer appliances in India have increased by around 5–8% ahead of the 2026 festive season, marking the third round of price revisions during the year. Manufacturers have cited higher costs for copper, aluminium, steel and crude derivatives, along with increased freight expenses and currency movements. Despite the price increases, manufacturers expect demand to be supported by replacement purchases, premiumisation, consumer financing and improved sentiment. The festive period from Onam through Dussehra and Diwali typically accounts for around 30–40% of annual sales for appliance manufacturers.
Haier Appliances India CEO N S Satish said: “Definitely. It will.” He expects the company’s festive sales to increase by 30–35% by value, while unit sales are expected to rise by around 20%. Haier increased room air-conditioner prices by around 5% from 1 October and prices of other categories by 2–3%. LG Electronics India expects demand to benefit from festive financing schemes and consumer upgrades, while Sony India expects overall value growth of around 15–20% during the festive season. Godrej Enterprises Group also expects demand to be supported by replacement purchases and premiumisation. Existing inventory purchased before the latest price increases is expected to remain available through distribution channels for several weeks.
