Germany: Ikea has announced the introduction of air-to-water heat pumps in Germany through a partnership with Swedish photovoltaic company Svea Solar. The heat pumps, manufactured by Sweden-based Aira, are being added to Ikea's range of residential renewable energy solutions, which already includes photovoltaic systems, energy storage units, and electric vehicle charging stations.
The offering includes two variants of the heat pump: one combining indoor and outdoor units, and a compact model with integrated hot water storage. These systems use propane (R290) as a refrigerant and operate with noise levels between 40 dB(A) and 48 dB(A). The product range, launched in 2024, includes 6 kW, 8 kW, and 12 kW outdoor units, which are designed to operate efficiently in temperatures as low as -25°C and have a seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) of 4.7 at 35°C.
