Heat Pump and Solar Sign-Ups Surge in the UK as Households Seek to Reduce Energy Costs

UK: E.ON Next has reported a 154% year-on-year increase in household sign-ups for heat pumps, while solar sign-ups rose by 145%, as UK consumers seek to lower energy bills and gain greater control over their energy consumption ahead of winter.
The company also offers its Next Optimise service to customers with solar panels and battery storage. The service automatically charges home batteries when wholesale electricity prices are low and exports stored electricity when prices rise, helping eligible households save up to £637 (approximately US$850) annually. The system monitors energy usage and optimises battery operation without requiring customers to track electricity prices manually. Actual savings depend on household energy consumption, system configuration, solar generation, and prevailing energy prices.
