THAILAND: Haier is investing THB 5 billion (US$ 154 m) to establish a new commercial air conditioner manufacturing facility in Rayong, Thailand, with operations expected to commence in June 2027. The plant, situated on approximately 76 rai within the WHA Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate 5, is projected to become Southeast Asia’s largest central air conditioning manufacturing base. According to the company, the facility is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 800,000 units by 2028. Around 30% of production will serve the domestic market, while the remaining output will be exported to regions including Southeast Asia, North America, and South Asia. The plant will manufacture a broad range of products such as packaged terminal air conditioners, light commercial AC systems, chillers, VRF systems, fan coil units, and cooling equipment for data centres. The investment is also expected to generate around 1,000 local jobs. In addition, the site will include a dedicated research and development centre to support local R&D, manufacturing, and marketing activities.
