Global Heat Pump Sales Decline Slightly in 2025

Global: Global heat pump sales declined by around 2% in 2025, with mixed trends across major markets. Sales in China and Japan remained largely stable, while Europe recorded growth of 11%, supported by increased demand in Germany, where sales rose in the first half of the year and heat pumps exceeded gas boiler sales. In contrast, France reported a decline, and the United States saw sales fall by approximately 13%, influenced by regulatory changes related to refrigerants, supply constraints and reduced housing activity.
In China, demand remained steady overall, with reversible air conditioners accounting for a large share of the market and showing strong performance earlier in the year before declining later. Sales of air-to-water and hot water heat pumps remained consistent with the previous year. In Japan, overall sales levels remained unchanged, although heat pump water heaters increased their share relative to gas systems, indicating a shift in market preference.
