Germany: From April, dynamic grid charges will be implemented in Germany, aimed at encouraging more efficient electricity consumption. These charges are particularly relevant for households with heat pumps, wall-mounted electric vehicle chargers, and photovoltaic home storage systems. By using these systems during periods when electricity supply is high, users may be able to reduce electricity costs. This adjustment is part of broader efforts to optimise energy usage and manage demand across the power grid.
Additionally, the German government has extended the funding period for combined heat and power (CHP) plants. New CHP installations that commence operations after 2026 will remain eligible for subsidies, with the funding period now extended until 31 December 2030. In related developments, wage increases have also been implemented in the construction sector, marking several policy changes effective from April.
