FRANCE: Johnson Controls' principal European manufacturing site for York chillers and heat pumps, located in Nantes, France, has increased in size and capacity.

There are two buildings in the extension, each with a distinct function. The first structure is more than 500 square metres and contains a state-of-the-art paint booth as well as a brand-new electrical trolley that can rotate and holds 70 tonnes.

The second building is 20 metres high and 1000 square metres in size. Its entire purpose is to assemble big heat pumps, including Turbo M units with a power output of 6 to 20 MW, which are commonly used in district heating. It is completely insulated to maximise working conditions for personnel and built to support brand-new, 100T cranes that span 24 metres.

To harness clean energy and lessen the plant's carbon footprint, a portion of the facility has a white roof and huge roof lights, in keeping with Johnson Controls' commitment to environmental responsibility. Along with optimal thermal and acoustic efficiency, it is claimed to have openings that maximise natural light. Benthe Klokkerholm, vice president, manufacturing operations HVACR, EMEA, said, "This expansion in Nantes is a significant milestone for Johnson Controls, enabling us to meet the growing demand for our market-leading technologies while paving the way towards a more sustainable and energy-efficient future."

Having been founded in 1964, the Johnson Controls factory in Nantes has over 20 years of experience with large-scale heat pumps. After Wuxi, China, and San Antonio, USA, it is the third-largest industrial heat pump plant in the world owned by the firm.
