European Heatwave Fuels Growth for Asian Air Conditioner Manufacturers
Europe: Asian air conditioner manufacturers, including Samsung Electronics, Midea and Mitsubishi Electric, are witnessing a surge in sales as record-breaking temperatures across Europe drive higher demand for portable and fixed cooling systems. While air conditioning remains uncommon in many European homes and buildings, soaring temperatures have prompted increased purchases, with Samsung reporting double-digit sales growth in Italy, Spain and France during the first half of the year. LG Electronics said its South Korean production lines have been operating at full capacity since April, while Midea reported that strong demand following the late-May heatwave caused its PortaSplit air conditioner to sell out in some sales channels, with second-hand prices exceeding the cost of new units.
