European Heatwave Drives Rise in Cooling Equipment Demand
Europe: Several European countries experienced record temperatures during a heatwave that continued across the region in late June 2026. In France, the national temperature indicator, which measures average daytime and night-time temperatures across 30 monitoring stations, reached 29.8°C on 30 June, the highest level recorded since measurements began in 1947. According to experts, the weather conditions are being driven by atmospheric and circulation patterns that trap hot air over affected areas for extended periods.
The rise in temperatures has led to increased demand for cooling equipment. French retailer Carrefour reported sales of 30,000 fans and air conditioning units by early evening on 29 June, while Amazon and electronics retailer Fnac Darty also recorded higher sales compared with the same period in 2025. Increased demand has also resulted in a rise in requests for air conditioning installations, according to installers in France.
