CZECH REPUBLIC: The European Commission has given a positive assessment of Czechia’s fifth payment request worth US$ 725.2 million (€614 million) under the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility. The approval follows Czechia’s satisfactory completion of 29 milestones and targets linked to reforms and investments in affordable housing, sustainable transport, energy efficiency, rail infrastructure, environmental research and business digitalisation. Key measures include a new Housing Support Act to expand rental supply, funding for over 5,800 zero-emission vehicles and charging points, and energy-efficient renovations to more than 68,000 homes. These upgrades have delivered significant energy savings and CO₂ reductions while lowering household costs. The request now goes to the EU’s Economic and Financial Committee for review. If confirmed, total disbursements to Czechia will reach US$ 8.03 billion (€6.8 billion), or 78% of its allocated funds.
