Canadian Government Increases Funding for St. Lawrence Shark Pavilion as Construction Commences

CANADA: The Government of Canada has increased its funding for the St. Lawrence Shark Pavilion project in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Quebec, by US$50,1990 (CAD 700,000,) raising its total contribution to US$2.7 million (CAD 3.8 million). Construction has now officially begun on the pavilion, which will form part of the Exploramer Museum and provide interactive exhibits focused on shark species found in the St. Lawrence River. The project is intended to strengthen tourism, scientific education and regional economic development in the Gaspé Peninsula. Supported by multiple public and private partners, the pavilion represents a total investment exceeding US$4.9 million (CAD 6.8 million) and is scheduled to open in summer 2027.
