Empower Expands District Cooling Capacity with New Plant in Jumeirah Village Circle

UAE: Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) begins Construction of Second District Cooling Plant in Jumeirah Village Circle, set to deliver a production capacity of 37,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT). The project, overseen by Empower’s in-house team, is part of six advanced district cooling plants in the area with a combined capacity of 256,000 RT. The new plant will join the existing unmanned facility of 49,000 RT and serve residential, commercial, and hospitality buildings using Thermal Energy Storage (TES) and Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) technologies for high energy and water efficiency. CEO Ahmad Bin Shafar highlighted that the plant reflects Empower’s strategic expansion, optimizing energy use, preserving resources, and reducing carbon emissions while meeting growing demand.
