Copeland to Acquire Sustainable Process Heat to Expand Industrial Heat Pump Portfolio

UNITED STATES: Copeland announced an agreement to acquire Sustainable Process Heat (SPH), a Germany-based industrial heat pump technology company. SPH will continue to operate independently until closing. The acquisition will expand Copeland’s Vilter industrial heating portfolio, providing additional heat pump technologies and solutions for industrial customers. SPH specializes in high-temperature heat pumps for industrial steam applications up to 180 degrees Celsius and supports a range of refrigerants. The transaction is expected to serve process segments requiring higher-temperature steam and broaden the range of supported refrigerants.

The acquisition is aimed at enabling industrial customers to replace fossil-fuel systems with energy-efficient heating alternatives. Spirax Group, a current minority shareholder in SPH, will continue its involvement and support sales through its Steam Thermal Solutions Business. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2025, subject to customary closing conditions. Copeland projects that the acquisition will allow the company to reach a wider customer base and support industrial energy transition initiatives.
