Colorado Awards $7.7 Million for 35 Innovative Geothermal Projects
US: Colorado Governor Jared Polis and the Colorado Energy Office have announced $7.7 million in grants for 35 geothermal projects across the state, funded through the Geothermal Energy Grant Program. The grants support a range of geothermal applications, including single-structure heat pump installations, interconnected thermal energy networks, and geothermal electricity generation. Awardees are expected to invest over $100 million to leverage state funding. Notable projects include the City of Pueblo's $270,000 grant for geothermal heat pumps at new fire stations and Gradient Geothermal's $100,000 grant to explore using inactive oil wells for thermal energy. The University of Colorado Boulder will receive $675,000 for geothermal co-generation studies. Additional funding rounds and tax credits will be available later this year to further support geothermal energy development in Colorado.
