China Offers Appliance Subsidy for Hong Kong and Macau Residents

China: Hong Kong and Macau residents with Home Return Permits can now benefit from a subsidy of up to 2,000 yuan (USD 280) when purchasing household appliances and electronic gadgets in mainland China under a new scheme launched by Chinese authorities. Eligible permit holders can receive a 20% subsidy on household appliances, including televisions, air conditioners, refrigerators, microwaves, and computers, capped at 2,000 yuan (USD 280). Additionally, the scheme provides a 15% subsidy for smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches priced below 6,000 yuan (USD 840), with a maximum voucher of 500 yuan (USD 70). The subsidy program runs until December 31, requiring recipients to complete real-name registration with a mainland phone number and bank account before collecting the vouchers.
