Chile: Chile’s National Institute of Standardisation (INN) has begun developing two new Chilean Technical Standards intended to regulate practices in the country’s refrigeration and air conditioning sector. The process is being carried out by a technical committee led by the INN’s standards division, using proposals from the Ministry of the Environment. The Institute stated that both standards remain under technical review and are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The forthcoming standards are prNCh3241, covering good practices in refrigeration and air conditioning systems, and prNCh3301, focusing on systems that use flammable refrigerants. Their development draws on international benchmarks, including ISO 5149-1:2014, ISO 817:2014, ANSI ASHRAE 15 and the existing Chilean standard NCh 3242:2011.
