Bosch to Invest €100m in Portuguese Heat Pump Factory
Bosch has declared an investment of approximately €100 million in its heat pump facility in Portugal. At its facility in Aveiro, located south of Porto, the German manufacturer intends to construct two production structures, additional heat-pump production lines, and new laboratories. In the medium term, the investment is also anticipated to generate several hundred additional employment. Bosch considers Aveiro, in addition to Trans in Sweden and Eibelshausen in Germany, a crucial node in the European heat pump development and manufacturing network. Bosch intends to allocate an excess of €1 billion towards the expansion of this network by the conclusion of the current decade.Christian Fischer, the deputy chairman of the Bosch board of management, stated that the company was vying for a leadership position in the global heat-pump market and that it was currently investing in the development and production of heat pumps in order to ensure that production could increase at the required rate. Bosch announced a €12 million investment in the factory last year in order to increase output of heat pumps beyond the facility's sole production line. Additionally, the development of heat exchangers for Southern Europe takes place at this location. Furthermore, outdoor units and wall-mounted indoor units for the next-generation Compress 5800i AW and Compress 6800i AW propane heat pumps will be manufactured at the Aveiro facility.
