Bosch Rolls Out First Low Gwp-R-454b Heat Pump With A2L Refrigerant Training
USA: Bosch has introduced its new heat pumps using the R-454B refrigerant, boasting a low Global Warming Potential (GWP) rating of 466, well below the EPA's limit of 700. This move signifies Bosch's commitment to environmental sustainability by phasing out higher-GWP refrigerants like R-410A. Alongside this, Bosch has also launched training initiatives to educate HVAC professionals on handling A2L refrigerants like R-454B, ensuring safe and efficient installations for customers.
All US HVAC manufacturers, including Bosch, are adapting their product ranges to include low-GWP refrigerants in compliance with the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act. This legislation mandates an 85% reduction in Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) by 2036. From December 31, 2024, heat pumps and air-conditioner systems using refrigerants with a GWP exceeding 700 will no longer be manufactured. However, they can still be sold and installed until December 31, 2025. Bosch has proactively prepared for this shift by launching its first low GWP-ready heat pumps, such as the CL and RL Series, which use Honeywell Solstice 454B refrigerant. The company plans to introduce more low GWP heat pumps throughout the year as part of its commitment to environmentally-friendly solutions.
