Carrier Confirms Plans to Sell Riello Group Amid Concerns Over Future of Italian Sites

Italy: A meeting was held at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy following concerns raised by trade unions Fim, Fiom, and Uilm over the planned sale of the Riello group by its parent company, Carrier. The company confirmed its intention to sell Riello, which employs approximately 1,300 workers, with half based in Italy across plants in Verona, Lecco, and Volpago (TV). Carrier cited a lack of alignment between Riello’s focus on boilers and burners and the group's broader shift towards electrification. The acquisition of Viessmann, which is already positioned for the green transition, has also led to functional overlaps. Carrier stated that Riello remains the only burner manufacturer in the group but is focused primarily on fossil fuel technologies. The company further clarified that no buyer has yet been identified and that an advisor will be appointed to find a suitable investor by the end of the year.  Source: Italian Federation of Metalworkers
