Biden-Harris Administration Launches Wisconsin Home Energy Rebates Program to Lower Utility Bills
USA: The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced today that Wisconsin has launched its inaugural Home Energy Rebates program, backed by the Inflation Reduction Act. Wisconsin is also the first state to implement the Home Efficiency (HOMES) segment of the rebate program, which aims to help households of all income levels, especially lower-income families, save on energy efficiency upgrades like insulation, air sealing, and heat pumps that lower overall home energy use.
This initiative is part of the Biden-Harris Administration's broader effort to provide US$8.8 billion in Federal funding to states, territories, and Tribes, aimed at reducing energy costs and improving efficiency in American homes. The program will make it more affordable to install cost-saving measures such as heat pumps, electrical panels, and insulation, potentially saving American households up to US$1 billion annually in energy costs and supporting approximately 50,000 jobs in residential construction and manufacturing. Additionally, this investment supports the President’s Justice40 Initiative, which targets ensuring that 40% of the benefits from federal climate and clean energy investments reach disadvantaged communities that face underinvestment and high pollution levels.
