A. O. Smith Completes New Plant Expansion in Mexico
Mexico: A. O. Smith Corp. recently marked its 150th anniversary in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, on 19th September. As part of the event, A. O. Smith announced the opening of its third plant at the site, along with an expansion project. The new plant will create 300 jobs and produce over 140,000 water heating units in its first year, including 39,000 tankless water heaters—the first to be manufactured in North America. The facility, set to be operational by October 2024, will include recreational areas and offices.
Additionally, a new production line will be added to an existing plant to increase heat pump water heater production, with full capacity expected by January 2025. The expansion is projected to double the plant’s output to over 160,000 units annually, adding 100 new jobs.
