Canada: The Yukon Government is negotiating with the Federal Government to significantly increase rebates for installing heat pumps. Currently, homeowners in Yukon can receive a rebate covering up to 40% of the installation cost, with a maximum amount of CAD 8,000 (USD 5800). Under the new programme, this amount could rise to CAD 24,000 (USD 17400).

The agreement, according to Premier Ranj Pillai, is expected to prioritise lower-income households while also considering Yukoners who rely on propane heating. The government is reviewing whether applicants under the current scheme might qualify for the enhanced benefits once the new programme is implemented, which is expected to launch in the coming weeks. Heat pumps, however, may require additional heating systems in extremely cold temperatures, typically below -15°C to -25°C.
