World Bank Maintains Romania's GDP Growth Forecast at 3.3% for 2024
Romania: The World Bank projects Romania's gross domestic product (GDP) to grow by 3.3% in 2024, maintaining its April projection. According to the June 2024 Global Economic Prospects report, Romania's economic growth is expected to accelerate to 3.8% in both 2025 and 2026, in line with previous forecasts.
For the Central European subregion, which includes Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Poland, the World Bank anticipates economic growth to rise to 3% in 2024, up from 0.5% last year. Growth is projected to reach 3.5% in 2025 before slightly easing to 3.3% in 2026.
This growth is attributed to an anticipated recovery in the euro area and support from the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), with Poland playing a significant role in driving economic performance.
The World Bank has also maintained its estimate for Romania's GDP growth in 2023 at 2.1%, unchanged from its April projection.
