Pakistan: Waves Home Appliances Limited has resumed the assembly and nationwide sale of air conditioners in Pakistan after suspending the product category following import restrictions introduced in 2022. The company informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange that its first shipment of 5,000 completely knocked-down air-conditioner kits had arrived from China, enabling the restart of local assembly for T1 and T3 air conditioner models across multiple capacities. Distribution to the company’s dealer network across the country has also commenced.
The company stated that the suspension of air conditioner operations was caused by import restrictions that affected the availability of components and placed pressure on working capital and supply chains. Following improvements in its financial position and procurement arrangements, Waves Home Appliances has restarted production and expects revenue from the segment to be recognised in the current quarter. The company also indicated that the resumption of air conditioner operations could support the revival of other suspended product categories, including washing machines, microwave ovens and water dispensers, while its refrigerator and deep-freezer businesses continued operating throughout the period.
