Uzbekistan to Boost Electrical Exports to Europe, South Asia, and the Middle East
Uzbekistan: Uzbekistan’s electrical engineering sector, comprising around a thousand small, privately owned enterprises, has expanded significantly. The industry, which employs over 35,000 people, has seen production grow 7.1 times to $1.98 billion from 2017 to 2023. Notably, the output of household appliances, including water heaters and air conditioners, has increased substantially.
Key strategies, including the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan-2030, aim to boost production, double high value-added products, and triple exports. A new Presidential Decree sets targets for a 30% increase in production and a 43% rise in exports by 2024.
Investment in the sector has totaled $935 million, with over 260 new projects launched, including those for water heaters and air conditioners. Future plans involve implementing 294 investment projects worth over $4 billion to further enhance production and expand exports to European, South Asian, and Middle Eastern markets.
