UZBEKISTAN: Uzbekistan is set to rank among the five fastest-growing economies in the broader Europe and Central Asia region in 2025, according to the World Bank’s Europe and Central Asia Economic Update, Fall 2025. The report forecasts Uzbekistan’s GDP to expand by approximately 6.2%, significantly outpacing the regional average amid a general slowdown across emerging European and Central Asian markets. Overall, regional GDP growth is projected to ease to around 2.4% in 2025, down from 3.7% in 2024, largely due to weaker output in Russia.
Central Asia continues to outperform, with countries in the region collectively growing at 5.9%, making it the fastest-growing subregion in Europe and Central Asia for the third consecutive year. Within Central Asia, Tajikistan is expected to grow by 7%, Kyrgyzstan by 6.8%, and Kazakhstan by 5.5%, keeping much of the region well ahead of Europe’s advanced economies, which are projected to expand by just over 1% on average. Turkmenistan is not included in the World Bank’s regional calculations due to the lack of internationally comparable economic data.
