Uttarakhand Govt Approves 5 Solar Power Plants to Promote Green Energy
INDIA: A chief marketing officer statement stated that the Uttarakhand government has approved five solar power facilities with a combined capacity of 5,265 kilowatts under the Chief Minister Solar Self-Employment Scheme. According to an official, the objective of this initiative is to encourage the use of renewable energy within the state. Ongoing endeavours are being undertaken by the state government to advance solar energy within the jurisdiction. Under this, the Chief Minister Solar Self-Employment Scheme is administered. In accordance with the Uttarakhand State Solar Policy-2023, which was officially announced by the government, UREDA issued an invitation for applications in the Type-II category on July 20, 2023. It was stated that Energy and Alternative Energy Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram informed the government level that the State Level Monitoring Committee, which he presided over, has approved five proposals.The official added that the facility has a total capacity of 5,265 kilowatts. It is stated that approximately Rs 24 crore will be invested in the state's solar energy sector as a result of these initiatives, which will also promote green energy.
In conjunction with the Mukhyamantri Solar Swarozgar Yojana, rooftop solar power plants are being constructed for the benefit of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited's domestic customers in order to promote green energy in the state. The Central and State governments provide additional subsidies for these projects.
