UK: Certified installations of electric heat pumps in the UK reached 30,000 in the first half of 2025, marking a 12% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). These highly efficient systems, which use electricity to draw heat from the air or ground, continue to gain momentum as households seek cleaner alternatives to traditional boilers for heating and hot water.
Government financial incentives have played a key role in accelerating adoption. A major driver has been the GBP 7,500 (USD 10,050) grant available for replacing boilers with heat pumps in homes. The latest data from January to March indicates that around 75% of heat pump installations were either fully or partially supported by government funding, making the technology more accessible to a wider range of homeowners.
MCS also highlighted the growing capacity of the installer network, noting that more certified professionals are now equipped to deliver high-quality heat pump installations at scale. With the upcoming Future Homes Standard set to mandate low-carbon heating in new builds from 2027, and consumer interest rising, the heat pump market is poised for continued strong growth in the years ahead.
