UK Government Seeks Views on Alternative Low-Carbon Heating Technologies

UK: The UK government has opened a consultation to gather evidence on alternative low-carbon heating technologies beyond heat pumps and heat networks. While heat pumps and heat networks remain central to the UK’s decarbonisation strategy, the government aims to identify additional solutions suitable for different types of buildings to ensure consumer choice. The consultation forms part of wider efforts to reduce emissions from heating, which currently accounts for a significant share of the country’s greenhouse gas output.

The document is linked to the government’s forthcoming Warm Homes Plan, which includes a commitment of GBP 13.2 million (USD 13.2 million / EUR 13.2 million) to upgrade homes and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The consultation invites input from stakeholders across the heating and energy sectors but does not cover hydrogen or biomethane, which will be addressed separately.
