U.S.: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), alongside President Trump, announced two regulatory actions including a final rule revising the 2023 Technology Transitions Rule and a proposed technical fix to the 2024 Emissions Reduction and Reclamation (ER&R) rule, aimed at easing restrictions on hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant. The agency estimates the changes will save American families and businesses more than USD 2.4 billion, including over USD 900 million from the revised Technology Transitions Rule (with more than USD 800 million in supermarket savings) and up to USD 1.5 billion from transport-related reforms under ER&R. The revisions extend compliance deadlines and increase flexibility in refrigerant usage across supermarkets, air conditioning systems, semiconductor manufacturing, and medical transport.
