Travis Perkins’ Toolstation to Exit the French Market
France: Travis Perkins, a British trading company specializing in building products, may be leaving its Toolstation sales branch in France. A "plan for a potential withdrawal of Toolstation France" is being developed by the company, according to the most recent annual report. The Benelux region's market alternatives are undergoing a strategic evaluation.
By 2023, Toolstation has added six new locations to its network of French shops, totaling 51. Turnover increased by 29% as a result. Nevertheless, the annual report notes that losses have increased to GBP 18 mio (EUR 21 mio) and that a loss of GBP 20 mio is anticipated for 2024.
The 119 stores (plus six) in the Benelux region saw a 10% rise in turnover in 2023, which fell short of management's projections. The annual report states that although the losses have increased from GBP 15 mio to GBP 19 mio, they are only anticipated to reach GBP 12 mio this year. In the Netherlands and Belgium, profitability is anticipated to be attained in 2025 and 2028, respectively.
